Darwin Festival 2019
Darwin Festival 2019 takes place 8-25 August. Celebrating its 40th Anniversary this year, Darwin Festival reflects Darwin’s position at the Top End of Australia, its unique Indigenous and multicultural population and its close proximity to Asia while at the same time showcasing some of Australia’s finest arts performers.
Darwin Festival is the Northern Territory’s leading international arts festival that connects the cultures and communities of Darwin through the arts, promotes the Northern Territory to the nation and the world, and contributes to the cultural and visitor economies of Northern Australia.
From Australia’s leading physical theatre company Legs on the Wall and co-commissioned by Darwin Festival, Man With The Iron Neck is a stirring piece of theatre that seamlessly interweaves extraordinary aerial and physical skills with evocative visuals and a beautifully written narrative to tell a daring and delicate story of survival. Experience a very different circus show when Cambodia’s premier troupe Phare Circus present their award-winning Eclipse. Based on traditional Cambodian folktales, Eclipse combines a dramatic mix of theatre, classical Cambodian Apsara dance and thrilling acrobatics all set to a live original music score.
