Edinburgh International Culture Summit 2018
The 4th Edinburgh International Culture Summit, a biennial event which creates a space for the world’s Culture Ministers to consider the importance of culture and how it can aid and develop their own people and nations, takes place in Edinburgh 22-24 August 2018. The overall theme of Summit 2018 is ‘Culture – Connecting Peoples and Places’, we aim to reflect on the challenges and complexities of the world in which we live and demonstrate how culture can make connections across perceived divisions in society.
This year the Summit focuses around three areas of debate: Culture and Wellbeing, Culture and Investment and Culture in a Networked World with a diverse and influential list of speakers lined up from across the world.
The Edinburgh International Culture Summit brings together Culture Ministers, artists, thinkers and arts leaders from around the world to share ideas, expertise and best practice, with a view to inspiring positive change in cultural policy and investment.
Five partners, who all strongly believe in the power and benefit of culture and have a global reach and perspective, organise the Summit – British Council, Edinburgh International Festival, Scottish Government, The Scottish Parliament, and the UK Government.
The programme of speakers is available here (speakers from the UK, Australia, Switzerland, Singapore, Italy, Denmark, Netherlands, South Africa, USA)
Public tickets are available on a ballot system to people in Scotland (12 August deadline). To join the debates online and in other media, please see the website.
The 3rd edition in 2016 attracted delegations from over 40 nations in 2016.
