Escher Meets Islamic Art in Amsterdam
Escher Meets Islamic Art: A special cultural encounter between Islamic and European art
The Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam takes a fresh look at the world-famous Dutch graphic artist M.C. Escher this summer. The exhibition ‘Escher Meets Islamic Art’ examines for the first time ever the way in which Escher was inspired by Islamic art.
The exhibition will run until November 3rd 2013.
Prize exhibits from the Victoria & Albert Museum and the Gemeentemuseum Den Haag are displayed alongside the finest examples of Escher’s drawings and graphic art. The Tropenmuseum, Holland’s largest ethnographic museum, is housed in one of Amsterdam’s most beautiful historic buildings.
