EU hosts 'History of Europe' art exhibition in Ulan Bator
Androulla Vassiliou, European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Multilingualism and Youth, has officially opened the 'History of Europe' exhibition in Ulan Bator. The exhibition, featuring illustrations by the Czech artist Renata Fučíková, depicts the history of Europe from four million years ago to the present day.
Commissioner Vassiliou is paying an official visit to Mongolia from September 7-9 to celebrate the 25th anniversary of diplomatic relations between the European Union and Mongolia as well as to discuss new opportunities for EU-Mongolia cooperation in culture, education and youth policy.
Organised by the European Union Delegation to Mongolia in cooperation with the Embassy of the Czech Republic, the exhibition takes place at the Red Ger Art Gallery (Seoul Street 25, Khan Bank Building 1st Floor) and runs from September 9 to 27. It consists of 20 panels of illustrations and accompanying text which take the audience on a journey through thousands of years of European history in a fun and informative way.
Ahead of the opening, Commissioner Vassiliou said: "The way we approach art should mirror how we examine history – by asking probing questions and encouraging the exploration of subjects from a multitude of angles in order to learn as much as possible about our collective past, to avoid repeating mistakes and work towards a brighter future."
