The European Museum Academy (EMA) invites applications for the 22nd edition of the Luigi Micheletti Award and the 7th edition of the DASA Award. Both awards will be presented at the next Annual Meeting of EMA, due to be held in Skopje, Macedonia, 29-30 September 2017. The Luigi Micheletti Award focuses on contemporary European history and its scientific, industrial and social heritage.  Applications are open to museums of 20th century history (military, political, social), museums of science, technology or industry, science centres, ecomuseums, and interpretation centres on these subjects and emerging crucial issues of contemporary society.  The 2016 winner was Den Gamle By, in Aarhus, Denmark. Meanwhile, the basic criterion of the DASA Award is the quality of learning opportunities in a comprehensive perspective – the museological concept, the quality of the storyline, the creativity of the exhibition design and the programme of educational activities.  Specific attention is given to personal mediation, interactive participation of the public and an effective mix of education and entertainment.  This Award is open to all kinds of museums.  The 2016 winner was Micropia, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. EMA is a non-profit foundation established to reflect museums at the international level, to promote research on museography and museology as a high cultural activity, to provide constructive criticism and promote discussion on new exhibitions and museums, and to diffuse museological knowledge and ideas among members of the profession. It aims to promote the conception and development of new as well as of traditional museums as tools of social change. Thirty-six countries are currently represented within the EMA organisation. Over the years EMA's annual meeting has become an occasion for the exchange of experiences, networking and discovery of progressive museological ideas of European relevance, with the generous and enthusiastic support of museums, cultural organisations and public bodies.  Thanks to the growth of EMA activities and connections this meeting has been enriched by the inclusion of the results of "Heritage in Motion", the only competition addressed to digital productions about European heritage. Applications for both the Luigi Michelletti Award and the DASA Award should be sent by 1 December 2016. An entry fee of €200 applies in all cases.
