Finland | NEMO European Museum Conference 2023
The NEMO European Museum Conference 2023 “and… ACTION! Museums in the climate crisis” will take place from 19 to 21 November in Lahti, Finland.
As the sector stands at the brink of change, NEMO (Network of European Museum Organisations) wants to inspire and offer guidance on how museums can be part of the solution and identify where they can contribute to climate action and sustainability. The conference will draw on learnings from NEMO’s recent report to explore sustainability strategies, risk management as preventive measures and how to transform museums into futureproof and sustainable organisations.
The NEMO European Museum Conference 2023 opens with a keynote speech from Dr. Kirsten Dunlop, the CEO at EIT Climate-KIC, Europe's largest public-private partnership focused on climate innovation. This is followed by panel discussions and workshops. Some workshops include: Small Museums, Big Impact – The tools and skills for climate change action, Sustainability plan for your museums – 10 steps and 3 workshops facilitated by the NEMO Working Groups. In Lahti, the European Green Capital (2021), participants can expect several opportunities for networking with European colleagues, museum visits and opportunities to explore the local nature and culture.
