Relations between Malaysia and the Netherlands date back some 400 years. The Dutch East Indies Company established a trading post in Melaka in 1641. Many of the most visible buildings in Melaka, such as the Stadthuys and the Christ Church were built by the Dutch. To revive the historical connections and to build a bridge to the future, Melaka will 'turn orange' in September 2010 with a weeklong festival to celebrate all things Dutch. From heritage to music, exhibitions and food, check out the programme of 'Holland Days in Melaka'. Learn more about the history of Melaka.
