Holland meets Russia at HFM 2013
In order to celebrate the special bilateral relationship between the Netherlands and Russia, a wide-ranging program of activities have been devised during the Holland Film Meeting 2013 to further strengthen co-operation between the two countries in the field of cinema. This program is a part of wide ranging co-operation initiative between the two countries and has been titled NLRF 2013. It first offers an expansive Dutch cultural programme to be presented in Russia and then a reciprocal Russian programme in the Netherlands. In 2013 the Holland Film Meeting will examine the Russian audiovisual industries, and will host a delegation of Russian funders and producers who will explain their working methods, discuss their recent output and isolate the common areas of interest in order to facilitate dynamic and ongoing co-operation with the Dutch and European industries.
Russian guests so far confirmed include Olga Koleageva, head of Moscow Co-production Forum, Alexei Sokhnev, head of Northern Seas Film Forum, and producers Natalia Drozd, Evgeny Gindilis and Julia Mishkenene.
In addition, three high-quality Russian projects in development will be selected for the Netherlands Production Platform co-production market (27-28 September 2013), joining approximately seventeen others from the Netherlands and Europe. The Russian theme will continue as an acclaimed auteur will deliver the annual Cinema Militans lecture, presented again in association with the British film magazine Sight & Sound. The lecture, which comprises a personal overview of the current and future trajectories of the medium of cinema, will take place on Sunday 30 September 2012. This 2013 focus on Russia is a collaboration between the Northern Seas Film Forum (St Petersburg) and the Holland Film Meeting.
The return leg of NLRF 2013 events will bring Dutch films to Russian audiences at various film festivals in Moscow, St Petersburg and Vologda. A special kids programme titled Tomorrow will be presented at both the International Film Festival of St Petersburg and the Moscow Festival later this year.
