ICCROM Course: Cultural Heritage Protection in the Asia-Pacific Region | Japan
This course, entitled "Cultural Heritage Protection in the Asia-Pacific Region: Research, Analysis and Preservation of Archaeological Sites and Remains", will be held in Nara, Japan, between 30 August and 29 September 2016.
It is organised by the International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property (ICCROM), the Agency for Cultural Affairs of Japan (Bunkacho), the Asia-Pacific Cultural Centre for UNESCO, the National Institutes for Cultural Heritage, Japan, and the National Resarch Institute for Cultural Property, Japan.
The course aims to provide participants with the latest knowledge and technologies in the fields of investigation, preservation, maintenance and management of archaeological sites and remains.
Specific objectives include the following:
- to provide participants with a knowledge of the principles and methodologies for protection of archaeological sites and remains;
- to provide participants with knowledge and skills-based techniques for the recording and analysis of archaeological sites and remains;
- to provide participants with knowledge and skills-based techniques for the preservation, management and utilisation of archaeological sites and remains;
- to provide participants with an opportunity to establish networks with colleagues from the region and share their experiences.
