ICOM-CECA Best Practices in Museum Education: 2017 publication & 2018 call
The International Committee for Education and Cultural Action (CECA), one of the international committees of the International Council of Museums (ICOM) has recently published a new edition in its series related to the CECA Best Practice Award. Entitled Best Practice 6: A tool to improve museum education internationally and edited by Cinzia Angelini, the volume is available through ICOM's website.
Launched in 2012 with the main goal to create a common language among CECA members, the Best Practice Award has gradually become a consolidated opportunity that CECA offers to members from all over the world every year.
The 2017 collection of good practices opens with an essay by Marie-Clarte O'Neill, a Professor at the École du Louvre and the ICOM CECA Board member delegated to the 'Best Practices in museum education' initiative, considering in a critical way the implications of collaboration within museum education.
Nine good practices are presented thereafter. Among them are some from ASEMUS member museums and associated organisations, including the 'Heritage Explorers Programme' launched by the National Heritage Board, Singapore; and the 'Creative Lab for Teens' established by the Chester Beatty Library, Ireland; as well as others from museums in France, Greece, and the Netherlands, among others.
The texts collected in this publication are presented in English, French or Spanish.
