India | New space Jaipur Centre for Art with a focus on dialogue in contemporary art

As reported in Harpers Bazaar India, the Jaipur Centre for Art (JCA) opened in November 2024, is reshaping Jaipur’s art scene and bringing a global lens to contemporary art.

With the shared vision to include Jaipur in the global dialogue around contemporary art practices, inspire artistic communities, and propagate cultural exchange, Sawai Padmanabh Singh and Noelle Kadar opened the 2,600 sqft public art exhibition space in a city known for craft, jewellery, and architecture.

The inaugural exhibition of JCA, A New Way of Seeing, curated by Peter Nagy, brings together eight established artists from India and other parts of the world who create a dialogue about how art is made and how we perceive it. Tanya Goel, Manjunath Kamath, Anish Kapoor, Alicja Kwade, Sean Scully, Dayanita Singh, Hiroshi Sugimoto, and LN Tallur use paintings, sculptures, and photography in a variety of styles, both materially and conceptually, to manipulate or subvert what the audience will encounter.

In addition to the exhibitions, JCA is all set to launch an artist residency programme to facilitate a nurturing environment for both emerging and established artists. This initiative is aimed at fostering meaningful connections between artists and the local community, nurturing a spirit of creative collaboration and cross-cultural exchange.
