The 22nd International Symposium on Electric Art (ISEA 2016), titled Cultural R>evolution, takes place between 16th and 22nd May 2016 in Hong Kong. Electronic media exemplifies the dual meaning of revolution: to always create new while returning to the old. In this dynamic, where multiple centers and margins compete for attention, and borders to be transgressed are shifting, paradigms and practices must be replaced, repackaged and re-appropriated to keep up with the parallel evolutions in art, creativity, culture, society, and politics. ISEA2016 Hong Kong in partnership with the OPEN SKY PROJECT – a collaborative project between City University of Hong Kong’s School of Creative Media and International Commerce Centre (Sun Hung Kai Properties) – offers an opportunity for artists to present their video projects on the 77,000 sqm of urban media screen that makes up the façade of the highest tower in Hong Kong : the ICC (484m). The open call is a joint project between ISEA2016 SCM Open Sky Project and Human Vibrations exhibition/HKADC. 73 anonymized artworks were reviewed by a board of 11 international expert juries through which we have selected 6 Official selections. Due to the quality of the submission, the Jury agreed to awarding 22 Honorable Mentions for ISEA2016 Open Sky Call. R<CONNECTING SENSES ISEA 2016 Hong Kong and artists-in-labs program at Connecting Space Hong KongFocusing on perception and the relationship of art, science, technology and sensory systems, artists from Hong Kong, Greece, Japan, Switzerland and the UK will present their experimental concepts and transdisciplinary encounters at Connecting Space Hong Kong during 17 – 21 May 2016.
Co-curated by artists-in-labs program (ail) and ISEA 2016 Hong Kong, this exhibition functions as a laboratory by way of discussions and interactions – participating artists will join the curatorial team in acoustic performances, a “making-of” artist talk and a workshop surrounding the element ‘perception’.Similar content
