Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival in Xiamen
For its third edition, Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival presents the works of more than 250 artists from France, Spain, the Netherlands, Indonesia, China and more. Jimei x Arles festival aims to provide a platform for new Chinese photography, with several exhibitions showcasing young Chinese photographers and curators.
Jimei x Arles International Photo Festival was created in 2015 in Xiamen by Sam Stourdzé, the director of Rencontres d’Arles, and Chinese photographer RongRong, founder of Three Shadows Photography Art Centre (Beijing and Xiamen). The festival features international artists selected from Rencontres d’Arles alongside Chinese and Asian photography talents, and has attracted more than 100,000 visitors since its inception.
For the Jimei x Arles Discovery Award 2017, ten young talents of Chinese photography were selected by five young curators. The winner of the 2017 Jimei x Arles Discovery Award - Feng Li - is awarded a 200,000 RMB prize and an exhibition in 2018 Rencontres d’Arles. Siu Wai Hang received Special Mention from the jury members.
