Kuala Lumpur | 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture

The 8TH WORLD SUMMIT ON ARTS AND CULTURE is taking place in Kuala Lumpur, 11-14 MARCH 2019, on the theme: Mobile Minds: Culture, Knowledge and Change.  There's still time to register, or you can follow the programme highlights online and read the Discussion Paper.

The Discussion Paper explores the Summit theme – Mobile Minds: Culture, Knowledge and Change – and features contributions from individuals around the world whose work exemplifies how individuals can effect transformative change. Contributors include YAM Tunku Zain, the Founding President of the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs in Malaysia; Maria Daïf, a journalist and former director of L’Uzine in Casablanca, Morocco; Nick Capaldi, Executive Director of Arts Council Wales; Katindi Sivi-Njonjo, a leading futurist from Kenya; Gustavo Vidigal, a cultural strategist from Brazil; Dr Wulan Dirgantoro an academic from Indonesia who is based in Australia; and Taiarahia Black, Professor of Māori and Indigenous Research Development in Aotearoa-New Zealand.

The times in which we live are marked by profound and ongoing transformation. Globalisation, technology, climate change, and migration reshape societies, create complex challenges and invite new solutions. The 8th World Summit on Arts and Culture will bring together leading policy makers, researchers, managers and practitioners from the arts and culture sector from around the world to address these issues and examine how governments, cultural organisations, creative practitioners, and citizens can – and do – work together to actively lead change.
