Mumbai | Parada Narrnia | a fairytale parade
Parada Narrnia - a street theatre production by GROTEST MARU - brings a fairytale parade of mysterious characters to central Mumbai as part of the Germany+India 2011-12 Festival. Dates: 14-15 April, 6.30pm Venue: Cross Maidan Garden, At the 'Indo-German Urban Mela' Entrance at Junction of Veer Nariman Road and K B Patil Marg near Bhikha Behram Well, Churchgate, Mumbai The big white bird, the magic gardener, the sad prince, the unicorn princess and the rest of the forgotten queen´s court are travelers from a fairy world. They wake up to share with us tales and pictures from their universe, which seems to be lost... Visually impressive stilt figures and quick-moving ground characters interact with the audience and invite people into their play. GROTEST MARU develops new characters and improvisations corresponding to the location and environment that surrounds them. GROTEST MARU is based in Berlin and creates theatre in public spaces, inspired by visual, physical, and object theatre, as well as installation and landart. It specializes in developing site-specific projects for different situations, architectural spaces or landscapes. Through workshop programs local artists and community groups can be integrated into bigger productions. GROTEST MARU explores forms of communication that cross cultural borders. As a network of international artists with diverse cultural and artistic backgrounds, the company creates a universal image-based theatrical language, mostly without words, that can be understood worldwide.Similar content
