Museum Dance Off 3 Now Open
Museum blog When You Work at a Museum... has recently launched the third edition of the Museum Dance Off competition.
Museum Dance Off 3: Tokyo Drift invites staff working in galleries, libraries, archives or museums to enter the competition. In order to do so, participants should select a song, and involve interns, colleagues, volunteers, docents, or even visitors to dance to it. Performances should be videotaped and sent to the organisers of the contest. Several rounds of online voting will ensue, until one museum wins the competition.
Organisers highlight that participation in Museum Dance Off 3 may also be seen as a chance to show visitors a different side of their favorite museum, and rally the community to vote for their museum. From an internal perspective, it is a chance for staff to take a break from the routine and do something fun, creative and different. From a public relations perspective, it is a chance to engage audiences all over the world. In the last two years, several museums received local, national, and international media coverage online, via television and radio, and in print after participating in this initiative.
Entries should be sent by 31 March and voting will begin on 18 April.
