On the Move Cultural Mobility Forum and Cultural Mobility Yearbook 2023
From 9 to 10 May 2023 On the Move will organise their second Cultural Mobility Forum in Tunis (Tunisia) and online, hosted by Culture Funding Watch and live streamed by HowlRound.
As part of its multiannual programme co-funded by the European Union, each year On the Move proposes a Cultural Mobility Forum to collectively investigate international artistic and cultural mobility trends.
The 2023 edition of the Cultural Mobility Forum is an attempt to (re)contextualise the conversation on cross-border artistic mobility and environmental sustainability, unfolding the interdependencies between privileged (Western) Europe and other territories, investigating local practical sustainable solutions and listening to a variety of voices from the Global South.
They aim to nourish a more nuanced approach, informed and context-based, allowing for different models to coexist instead of reinforcing imbalances and injustice. With this Forum taking place in the Mediterranean region, OTM would like to put in perspective the "greening policies" for distributing public and private funding at national, macro-regional, European and international levels, along with sectoral needs in relation to the ecological transition.
Cultural Mobility Yearbook 2023
The Forum is informed by the global mobility issues addressed in On the Move’s annual Cultural Mobility Yearbook.
This Yearbook is conceived as a way to delve into the numerous calls and resources that On the Move collects and promotes on a daily basis. Data analyst John Ellingsworth extracted data from the OTM website in order to analyse and identify trends, building context around emerging and more familiar issues in the mobility field.
With environment and sustainability as its framework, this publication looks back on activity in 2022 in order to get a picture of where the international cultural mobility sector stands today, and a sense of where it might be heading next. Along the way, it also checks in on trends in digital mobility (the focus of the 2022 Yearbook).
