Riga | RIXC Art Science Festival 2017
Registration is open for the RIXC Art Science Festival in Riga, Latvia, taking place October 19-21 and featuring the 2nd Open Fields Conference, performances and exhibitions. RIXC Art Science Festival is an internationally renowned gathering for artists and scholars working at the intersection of arts, digital humanities and science, who are engaged in discussions on the changing role of art in society, its transformative potential, and relations to science. Taking place in the framework of the RISK CHANGE Creative Europe funded project, this year’s conference will primarily focus on highly relevant topics in post-media society such as “migrating cultures”, “augmented and virtual reality” and “neomateriality and post-digital”. The festival will take place from October 19-21, 2017, featuring the 2nd Open Fields conference, performances and exhibitions presenting the most innovative approaches in artistic research. The theme of the Open Fields conference is: Virtualities and Realities Immersive technologies coupled with superior virtual environments, artificial intelligence algorithms, faster processors, and biometrics are launching a new era in virtual experiences, entertainment and story-telling. At the same time these technologies have the potential for reinforcing stereotypes, contributing to massive economic and social disruptions, and implementing new systems of invasive monitoring and control.
