The IHC CultureFest 2015 consists of a 3 week long calendar of events from May 8 to May 31 2015 and is presented as the Indian community's gift to the nation in celebration of SG50. The exhibition inside the IHC Galleries presents chronological and historical perspectives that represent periods in Asian history when South Asians established contact with Southeast Asians and East Asians since the pre-modern era. However, during the period of Straits Settlements when Singapore rose to importance as a penal colony, the contact between India and Singapore entered an intense period of interaction under the British rule. Much of the present migration began during the early 19th century and has continued since then.Similar content
