Singapore | New Asian Imaginations conference
The New Asian Imaginations: (Re)searching the Arts in Southeast Asia symposium 19-21 September brings together international arts academics, practitioners and professionals in a fresh discussion on the arts.
The areas covered are diverse: From visual arts to performing arts, from design to film-making, from theory to practice, and from history to contemporary culture.
Participants can expect engaging dialogues with a mixed group of presenters coming from around the world such as Brunei, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, the United Kingdom and the United States of America.
Full symposium access, including opening performances, lunches and coffee breaks, is at S$350.
Early registrants pay S$180 (valid till 31 May 2011).
Given the recent rise in the awareness and interest in the arts and creative industries in Southeast Asia, New Asian Imaginations: (Re)searching the Arts in Southeast Asia provides a platform for investigation, dialogue, and exploration for arts practitioners, arts educators and individuals interested in contemporary issues surrounding the development of the arts in a rapidly changing Asia. The symposium will highlight new insights emerging from current practice-led research and the practice of the arts in Southeast Asia; contextualizing the relationships between different art-forms and their various relationships with its various stakeholders - an increasingly fragmented audience and society. The Symposium provides participants with an opportunity to interact and discourse with leading thinkers and practitioners with an interest in the way cultures are being re-presented in a highly globalized and post-modern era.
