Singapore | Southeast Asian Arts Forum 2023
From 3 to 4 August 2023, the 4th Southeast Asian Arts Forum 2023 takes place in Singapore and online. Bringing together practitioners from the region, the Forum is developed by the Institute of Southeast Asian Arts (ISEAA), a research and resource development agency within the Nanyang Academy of Fine Arts (NAFA).
The Southeast Asian Arts Forum 2023 aims to explore the narrative surrounding the cycle of creation and destruction. It aims to look back into the past and find multitudes of possibilities in how creatives push the boundaries of their practices. They seek creative practices which aim not only to survive, but also which seek to attain harmony between humans and their surrounding ecology.
Speakers include artists and unconventional thinkers from a diverse background of creative and academic disciplines. These Southeast Asian artists, educators and creative practitioners bring to the Forum what is current, what is urgent and what could be a future alternative following the current state of transitions.
Speakers share their creative contexts in VietNam, Singapore, Indonesia, the Philippines and Malaysia.
The hybrid Forum includes livestreamed presentations, performances, and dialogue to inspire an exploration of Southeast Asian arts and its discourses; facilitating an exchange of knowledge from the community to the classroom and vice-versa.
