State of Design Festival in Melbourne

None The State of Design Festival was launched in 2004 to increase people's awareness of design and its role in shaping innovation, sustainability, local businesses and society. This year the festival is entitled Design That Moves, and will focus on projects that are transformative, mobile, and networked. It will particularly look at how design can enhance cities by presenting events in urban transitional zones such as platforms, revitalized spaces, foyers, and stairs. A variety of satellite events are on the festival's agenda including Design:Made:Trade, a multidisciplinary exhibition showcasing Australian and international design culture. Other trade events, workshops, and talks featuring renowned designers are also part of the programme. Additionally, submissions for the Design For an Active City project  are being accepted until July 6th to all Victorian designers. The project is looking for site-specific proposals that would increase pedestrian activity and promote healthy lifestyles. State of Design Festival is a Victorian Government initiative delivered in 2011 by Australian Exhibitions & Conferences Pty Ltd.
