SWEAT 2022: An online international dance festival
From 17 to 25 June 2022 the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts is running the SWEAT Hong Kong International Dance Festival online.
SWEAT is specially curated for the international dance community to meet, innovate, research, share and dance virtually. There are three main programmes:
ArtsCross Hong Kong 2022, 17 June 2022
ArtsCross is the presentation of a global digital research project that investigates new possibilities between dance and technology with multicultural perspectives. Five choreographers, 16 dancers and 14 scholars from Beijing, Hong Kong, London and Taipei met virtually in a remote setting. Choreographers from each city teamed up with four dancers and will present a work-in-progress on 17 June.
Digital International Festival for Dance Academies (IFDA), 18–21 June 2022
The International Festival for Dance Academies (IFDA) connects 15 international dance academies for a series of staged performances and original film screenings performed and created by emerging dance talents from across the world. Participants come from Australia, Austria, China, Germany, Malaysia, Singapore, the UK, and more.
World Dance Alliance (WDA) Global Summit, 22–25 June 2022
With a keynote from Akram Khan, the Summit brings together conversations and presentations, and navigates new pathways for arts, dance and wellness in the post-pandemic world to empower the dance artists of tomorrow in practice and research.
Festival passes range from 20 USD to 105 USD.
