Sydney Sculpture Conference - Sculpture by the Sea
In partnership with the Central Academy of Fine Arts (CAFA), Beijing, Sculpture by the Sea presents ‘Sculpture: a universal language’ on 5 November at the Sydney Opera House. The annual Sydney Sculpture Conference The annual Sydney Sculpture Conference coincides with the 22nd annual exhibition of Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi, the world’s largest free to the public sculpture exhibition. See the spectacular coastal walk transformed into a 2km long sculpture park over three weeks featuring 100 sculptures by artists from Australia and across the world (Sculpture by the Sea runs till November 4).
Registration is open for the Sydney Sculpture Conference which aims to foster the exchange of creative ideas between local, national and international sculpture and art communities while raising the profile, interest and awareness of sculpture across Australia.
An esteemed panel of academics and artists from CAFA, China’s leading tertiary art school will be joined by local scholars and artists alike. With a focus on education, the conference will be a cultural exchange of the latest ideas and thinking in sculpture.

- comparison of how sculpture is taught across leading tertiary institutions across Australia, China, South Africa and New Zealand
- conversation between exhibiting artists who share ideas, concepts and processes behind their forthcoming and previous Sculpture by the Sea works
