The Inclusive Museum Conference 2017: Call for Papers

inclusive-museum-conference-2017 The 10th International Conference on The Inclusive Museum will be hosted by the Whitworth Art Gallery at the University of Manchester and held in Manchester, UK, on 15-17 September 2017. With a special focus on "Diaspora, Integration and Museums", a call for papers is now open. Organisers invite proposals for paper presentations, workshops and interactive sessions, posters / exhibits, "virtual lightning talks", virtual posters, or colloquia addressing one of the following themes:
  • Visitors, including visitor diversity in the inclusive museum, measuring participation, multilingualism, gender and sexual orientation in the museum, disability access, etc.
  • Collections, including the changing work of the curator, exhibition didactics, authenticity, arts in the museums, technologies, the process of acquisition, etc.
  • Representations, including museums as knowledge makers, the measurement of knowledge 'outputs', the virtual museum, addressing the digital divide, etc.
An advance registration deadline has been set for 15 December 2016, although the submission of proposals will be open until well into 2017. Conference partners include the Whitworth Art Gallery (University of Manchester), the International Institute for the Inclusive Museum and the International Council on Museums (ICOM).
