Vietnam workshop: enhancing ASEM visibility through culture

The Asia-Europe Foundation (ASEF) is organizing in partnership with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Vietnam (MFA), and with the co-sponsorship of the Governments of Italy and Hungary, a workshop to investigate the role of culture in enhancing the perception of the ASEM process. The workshop will be organized under the framework of ASEF program on cultural dialogue and will take place in Quang Ninh, Vietnam on the 28th to the 29th of April 2010.

Topics of discussion of the workshop will be the different perspectives and ideas from ASEM governments and civil society in how cultural activities can play a role in enhancing ASEM’s visibility. Recommendations will be presented to the ASEM Cultural Ministers Meeting in Poznan (7-9 September 2010) and to the ASEM 8 Summit.

The workshop will provide participants and speakers with an opportunity to exchange ideas on how to foster cooperation through culture in the ASEM framework and how to enhance ASEM visibility through cultural activities. The workshop recommendations will be submitted to the 4th ASEM Culture Ministers’ Meeting in Poland and the 8th ASEM Summit in October this year in Belgium. Participants will also have the chance to explore Ha Long City and various local cultural activities during their stay on the occasion of Halong Carnaval Festival.
