None The 15th Pacific Meridian Film Festival takes place in Vladivostok 9-15 September 2017. The Pacific Meridian is the annual International Film Festival of Asian Pacific countries, established in 2003. The festival is held annually in early autumn in Vladivostok, Russian Federation on the shores of the Sea of ​​Japan. The Pacific Meridian Film Festival provides access to the most powerful films of our time and develops the culture of shared viewing, making the audience connected with the development of the art of cinema of the Pacific Rim countries.  It is the only film festival in the whole of Russia that has focus on the Asian Films and the Pacific Rim Films. This year the films to compete for the main award include works from Malaysia, Philippines, Japan, India, China, Chile & Hong Kong. Russia will be represented with the film “Closeness” by Kantemir Balagov – the film was awarded by FIPRESCI at the Cannes Film Festival, and the Best Debut Award at Kinotavr Film Festival in Sochi, Russia. Amongst the honored guests of the Festival, Fanny Ardant, Pavel Lungin, Alexey Uchitel, Yuriy Grymov, Alla Surikova, F.J.Ossang and many others. Also one of the guests of the Fesitval this year will be the unique glass sculptures master from Japan, who creates all the Festival Award every year, Yuichi Noda. As part of the special event there will be a meeting with the authors of the documentary film Karenina & I, which was shot in Vladivostok and all over Russia through Transsiberian road. The main character is Gorild Mauseth, a Norwegian actress, who went to the land of Tolstoy to participate in the modern play of Anna Karenina. The Festival will also present 8 films made by the local filmmakers in the film section called “Made in Vladivostok".
