Workshop: "World Heritage Nominations: Comparative Analysis"
The Hiroshima office of the United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is preparing the next workshop in its series of training activities focusing on World Heritage management and conservation practices, first launched in 2001. Entitled "World Heritage Nominations: Comparative Analysis", the workshop will be held in Hiroshima, Japan, between 27 November and 1 December 2017.
The workshop aims to equip participants from around the globe with a deeper understanding of not only the basics of World Heritage Nominations, but also the crucial area of Comparative Analysis, and its central role to Tentative Lists and Nominations Dossiers. The Workshop will also contribute to the development of a network of like-minded practitioners, able to communicate formally, and informally, sharing knowledge and best-practice.
Participants in the programme will receive targeted training covering key topics of the nomination and evaluation processes, including:
- Principles and Objectives of the World Heritage Convention;
- Operational Guidelines;
- The Concept of Outstanding Universal Value;
- Comparative Analysis;
- Justification for Inscription;
- Integrity and Authenticity;
- Protection and Management Requirements;
- Nomination and Evaluation Processes;
- Nomination Format; and
- Tips on Writing and Preparing the Nomination Dossier.
