Salzburg Global Seminar – Art is the Answer! – call

Salzburg Global Seminar calls for global cultural leaders for a flagship programme at Schloss Leopoldskron in Salzburg, Austria (4–8 July 2022). The programme will take place on the occasion of Salzburg Global’s 75th anniversary and the launch of a new Salzburg Global programme strategy, which celebrates the power of arts and culture to shape a better world.

With the theme ‘Art is the Answer!’, the programme will explore the patterns of polarisation through an artistic lens and the ways through which art and cultural exchange can start healing the divisions. 

The Salzburg Global Seminar uses a highly participatory model – participants contribute to the programme in an active way through structured sessions (presenting, challenging, debating) and unstructured forms (experiencing, networking, socialising). Approximately 60 participants will be selected (30 through an open call and 30 by invitation) from a wide range of disciplines, including visual arts, music, journalism, policymaking and business. 

This call prioritises several geographic regions, including the following ASEM countries: 

Bangladesh, Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Malta, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.

The programme is residential. Participants pay their own travel costs.
