A Snapshot of Museums and Galleries across China
‘A Snapshot of Museums and Galleries across China’ report, compiled by the arts team at British Council China, provides an overview of some the key institutions in China with the capacity and interest to engage internationally.
China is home to over 6,500 museums and this report is by no way a comprehensive directory, instead it aims to identify potential partners in China's visual arts sector that have both the capacity to and interest in international engagement and exchange. The report provides an overview of more than 40 key organisations, as well as profiles of the 14 cities that these institutions are found in: Beijing, Qingao, Luoyang, Wuhan, Shanghai, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Suzhou, Hefei, Guangshou, Shenzhen, Foshan, Changsha, and Chengdu.
During the Covid-19 pandemic, opportunities for international collaboration were severely limited globally. As China re-opens to the world, there are once again significant opportunities for cultural exchange.
