Administration of the National Cultural Fund

The Administration of National Cultural Fund (AFCN) is a public institution subordinated to the Ministry of Culture, and financed from its own revenues and subventions granted from the state budget. The main objectives of AFCN are to manage the National Cultural Fund, to finance the programmes, cultural actions and projects organised in the country or abroad, and to promote Romania's international relations.

AFCN is a unique institution at national level, that collects and manages the sums necessary for non-refundable financings of cultural projects, assuring the granting of financings on the basis of public tenders selection. All cultural operators, public or private law legal entities that perform cultural activities can participate in this selection. The evaluation and selection of programmes, projects and cultural actions are achieved by commissions comprising independent experts, the access to financing being based on the principles of transparency and equal access opportunities.
