Athenee Français Cultural Center

Athénée Français Cultural Center was established in 1970 as the international exchange division of L'Athenee Francais, the language school with close to a century of history. The Center, having a purpose of promoting international exchange through film, exhibits works in the form of motion pictures and video from all over the world. Besides film and video, the Center has also put its strength lately into the area of technical development. The end result has been the development of a computer driven subtitling projection system (S.P.S.). By making this technology available, the Center has been able to involve itself in production work with international film festivals throughout Japan. The Center has been awarded the 1989 Japanese Film Pen Club Award and the 1994. Japanese Film Pen Club Promotion Award Activities of the Cine Club, the focal point of the Center, include holding lectures and symposiums featuring film industry related guests invited from Japan and abroad, all in conjunction with the exhibition of film and video. The Cine Club exhibits about 300 titles a year.
