Berliner Festspiele

The Berliner Festspiele, founded in 1951, is a multidisciplinary cultural institution that realises and presents festivals, exhibitions and other event formats in the Haus der Berliner Festspiele, the Gropius Bau and many other Berlin venues.

Throughout the year international festivals, programme series, and individual events present contemporary artistic developments in music, theatre, dance and literature. The Berliner Festspiele aims at transcending genres and national borders in order to create a unique forum for reflection.

Its  international festivals and programmes present contemporary artistic developments in music, theatre, dance and literature. The Martin-Gropius-Bau, the city’s most attractive exhibition venue, shows exhibitions on archaeology and cultural history, contemporary art and photography. The dialogue with artists and the arts from the whole world is enhanced by the lecture series Berliner Lektionen with significant figures from public life.

Since 2001, the Haus der Berliner Festspiele has been the centre for this diverse spectrum of events. The open architecture of this modern theatre building provides an ideal setting for art that is out of the ordinary, often as yet unknown and always innovative.
