[BLOK]

[BLOK], founded in 2001, is a curatorial collective which operates at the intersection of art, urban research and political activism.

Its projects are designed and realised as a platform for the work of artists, curators, researchers and political activists who are interested in the politics of space, production of commons, democratisation of culture and reflection of artistic practices from the perspective of their social and production conditions. Since 2001, [BLOK] has designed and produced projects in public spaces, lectures, exhibitions, long-term research projects, and publications, and has also taken part in public debates on the neoliberal transformation of public space and institutions, as well as the struggle for their democratisation.

Since 2016, they have run the art and activism space BAZA, located in Trešnjevka, the largest neighborhood in Zagreb. In 2018, they launched a long-term project called THE TREŠNJEVKA NEIGHBORHOOD MUSEUM, which represents a framework for working in the local community, through building a virtual collection, art productions, and various cultural and artistic, and socially engaged programmes. Collaborations with cultural and educational institutions, as well as with art and activist initiatives, at local and international levels, are an intrinsic part of their activities.
