Giffoni Film Festival

The main objective of the Giffoni Film Festival (GFF) is promoting the most interesting international film production for children and youth. It was founded in 1971. The GFF aims at actively forming a more aware and conscious audience.

There are six official competitive sections in the festival, judged by jurors from various age groups.  The age of jurors ranges from 3 to 17. Over the years the number of jurors has by far out grown 3000 and they come from over 44 different countries embracing all the world’s continents.

The festival has hosted many film stars and directors including François Truffaut, Robert De Niro, Oliver Stone, Meryl Streep, Wim Wenders, Roman Polansky and many more.

GFF is not only a festival. There are various activities happening all year round, e.g over 200,000 students have come to Giffoni in 12 years for the Movie Days project. Since 2001 Giffoni has also created a festival network in the world- Giffoni World Alliance
