Hanoi Academy Of Theatre And Cinema

This institution originated in 1959 with the establishment of the Vietnam School of Stage Arts and the Vietnam Film School. In 1980 these two institutions were merged to become the Hanoi Academy of Theatre and Cinema, which has since established itself as Vietnam ’s premier theatre and film training institution. The University offers four-year Bachelor of Arts programmes in Theatre (theory, playwriting, directing, and performance for stage actors, circus performers and film actors), Vietnam ese Traditional Theatre performers, musicians, directors and writers), Film (theory, scriptwriting, directing, cinematography, art photography), Film Economics and Technology, Stage and Film Set Design (including fashion design) and Dance (for dance teachers, choreographers and dance critics and theorists). It already offers a range of Masters programmes, Doctoral research programmes are also being planned. At the time of going to press the Academy campus is undergoing a major redevelopment which will include the construction of a new experimental theatre. The Academy incorporates the Academy Film Studio and also runs the Institute of Theatre.
