International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles

The International Association for the Study of Silk Road Textiles (IASSRT) is committed to the joint study and resources sharing of cultural heritage (including silk, other textile materials and techniques) and the further enhancement of research in related areas. They do this by cooperating with research agencies and other related research institutes along the Silk Road.

IASSRT provides resource and intellectual support for the establishment of the Category 2 Center of “International Center for Silk Heritage on the Silk Roads” under the auspices of UNESCO by China National Silk Museum. It also takes a part in fostering intercultural dialogue, protecting, promoting and transmitting heritage, fostering creativity and the diversity of cultural expressions.

Membership of the IASSRT international association is open to organisations (including universities, museums, libraries, archaeology institutes, research institutes or groups) related to the studies of the Silk Roads. The aim of the association is to establish a platform for cooperation in research for general benefits of all participants, to share scientific and technological resources for research and conservation, to promote the adaptation and application of relevant technologies, and to enhance the dissemination and utilisation of research findings.

IASSRT holds an international symposium which has been held in the past in France, Korea, the Russian Federation, China and Italy.
