International Mother Language Institute
The International Mother Language Institute in Dhaka, which began in 2001, is dedicated to the research and the preservation of the dignity and the rights of nearly extinct languages of the world.
Since then, the institute has been involved in researching on the languages in and around Bangladesh. Preserving the nearly extinct languages of the ethnic groups of Bangladesh is as such, one of the major roles of the institute. It is also responsible for doing on ground surveys to rediscover undocumented languages around the country.
With the Ministry of Education, Bangladesh, the institute is working to provide elementary books to the major ethnic groups of Bangladesh in their own language. The institute accommodates the country’s only Language Museum which displays the history, formation and movement of languages of different continents and countries. it also has a library for the researchers and teachers to use.
