Jakarta International Jazz Festival

Jakarta International Jazz Festival (Java Jazz) is an annual festival celebrating jazz in Jakarta, Indonesia, represents a multi-cultural and international event, while maintaining its unique, down home charm and intimacy.

The prime force behind the Java Jazz was Indonesian musician Ireng Maulana. Ireng took a good idea that had been kicking around years and made it a reality. Over a year, Ireng Maulana and a group of close friends decided that the idea of such an international festival in Jakarta was too tantalising to remain just a dream. They formed a steering committee to plan the extravaganza that would, in time, come to be known as "JAKJAZZ'88", the first edition of the festival.
