Malaysian Film Producers Association / Pengeluar Filem Malaysia (PFM)

Established as an independent association in 1980, the PFM committee consists of heads and representatives from various production houses around Malaysia. It was mainly responsible for calling on the government to set up a National Film Board to look into the development needs and problems faced by the industry with monopoly in theatrical exhibition, production and distribution sectors topping the agenda. This call resulted in the setting up of FINAS or the National Film Development Board. The Malaysia Film Producers Association was also the key player in gaining government recognition via FINAS to implement the 'tax rebate' and 'wajib tayang or must show' system for local film productions. which have benefited local producers.
