Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, the Netherlands
The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen, in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, was founded in 1849 and has since then grown into an extensive collection containing old master paintings, drawings, prints, modern and contemporary art, pre-Industrial, modern and contemporary design.
The museum engages in a lively programme of temporary exhibitions and collection presentations, research projects and a platform for contemporary culture.
Permanent collections: The Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen's collection holds 140,000 objects, from old masters to modern art, from fine art to applied arts. Asian collections include applied arts objects mainly from China (including 17th and 18th-century porcelain plates, cups and vases), Japan (including porcelain and stoneware) and Indonesia.
