Radya Pustaka Museum is one of the oldest museums in Indonesia, standing under the Culture Departement of Surakarta. The Museum preserves Javanese art and culture, keeping various kinds of historical and cultural collections which come mainly from Kasunanan Palace. Radya Pustaka Museum also keeps ancient Javanese manuscripts as well as literary works, maps, ancient royal family trees and other valuable cultural assets. Permanent collections: manuscripts, puppets, Tosan Aji, gamelan, bronze and stone statues, masks, ceramics, crystal sets.
