National Film And Television School Nfts

The NFTS offers a variety of programmes, all of which assume a little previous experience. The amount and kind of experience required varies according to the course and could be obtained through a degree or other course, independent filmmaking or voluntary or professional work, not necessarily in moving image media.

Some NFTS graduates will go on to instigate innovative formats, while others will develop new ways to apply the technology, and yet others will find fresh and imaginative ways to tell stories. The school expects its graduates will contribute to film and programme making practice in their professional fields. To set them on that path, all the courses are intensely practical. Little time is spent in conventional seminar rooms. Theory is put directly into practice in the studios and workshops, so that students learn by applying their developing knowledge in real filmmaking situations. The school programmes develop each student's creative and intellectual potential, encouraging them to push the boundaries and come up with new perceptions and innovative work.
