New Zealand Music Industry Commission

The NZ Music Commission is an organisation with a national reach that is funded primarily through Vote: Arts, Culture and Heritage. It is an independent trust based in Auckland. Its full name is the New Zealand Music Industry Commission Te Reo Reka o Aotearoa.

The Music Commission envisions itself to be a successful music industry in New Zealand. The Mission of the Music Commission is to support the growth of the music industry in New Zealand, both culturally and economically, at home and abroad.

NZ Music Month is a promotion run by the NZ Music Commission that takes place each May, with other organisations. The Commission acts as the information hub for local music news in the lead-up to NZ Music Month and during May itself. It does so by spreading the word about key releases and live shows directly to the public and also to relevant media nationwide.
