Petőfi Literary Museum
The Petőfi Literary Museum was founded in 1954 with the aim of collecting and preserving records of Hungarian literature.
It is a public collection that explores and collects the Hungarian literary heritage in the widest possible way, as well as presents and transfers classical and contemporary Hungarian literature to generations of audiences from a multifaceted perspective in order to support and strengthen the linguistic and cultural identity that welcomes the diversity of cultures in the world. Another major goal of the museum is to get widely known and appreciated by the society through maintaining and continuously enriching cultural memory by providing opportunities for personal and community experiences of the dialogue between literature and other arts. Since its establishment, the Museum of Literature has organised more than 500 exhibitions and issued more than 300 scholarly and popularising publications and exhibition catalogues.
