POGON – Zagreb Centre for Independent Culture and Youth

POGON – Zagreb Centre for Independent Culture and Youth is a cultural institution based on the new model of civil–public partnership, whose main function is to provide the use of its facilities for cultural and youth programmes for Zagreb based organisations free of charge. Any NGO, art association and informal group can use Pogon’s resources for the implementation of programmes in the field of contemporary art and culture, as well as for various activities aimed at youth.

Pogon is not defined with aesthetic criteria nor programme/curatorial concept, but functions as an open platform. Annually, there are over 200 different public events being organised in Pogon from every field of contemporary culture and art (exhibitions, theatre and dance performances, new circus performances, concerts, lectures, public forums, and other) and also 150 workshops and seminars. Pogon is also frequently used for production, rehearsals, art residencies, meetings, and more.

Additionally, through its activities on an international and European scene, Pogon contributes by connecting Croatian and international artists and facilitating collaborations between them.
