Polyglot Theatre

Australia’s Polyglot Theatre is an internationally renowned creator of interactive experiences for children and families, inspiring kids to turn the simplest things into extraordinary creations.

Polyglot’s theatre is inspired by the artwork, play and ideas of children, and their performances feature active participation from audience members through touch, play and encounter. Their artistic works respond to the childhood need for experiences that encourage free artistic expression and an imaginative interpretation of the world. They specialise in puppet theatre, large scale interactive installation work and participatory workshop programmes.

Polyglot’s programme of works combines ‘gallery’ and ‘theatre’ experiences to create physical environments which invite the audience’s active involvement: a miniature town of houses and towers open for inspection, an enormous interactive game, a world in the sky where children lie on a bed of clouds, a walk-through comic book, a compound of cardboard boxes where children can construct their ideal city. Moving beyond audience participation, each of these works is experiential, tangible and wholly immersive.
