Romanian National Film Center

The Romanian National Film Center is organised and operates as a specialised body for central public administration in the field of cinematography, which is a legal entity within the Ministry of Culture. Its main purposes are: the encouragement and protection of the national film production and the stimulation of realising and broadcasting highly artistic films and the revaluation of the national film patrimony.

The activity of the National Film Center and of its units is financed from its own sources and state subsidies, via the Ministry of Culture. It initiates the necessary regulations and it assures the organisation and unfolding of the assessment and selection, according to an open competition system, of the cinematographic projects, with a view to granting financial support.

It grants direct credits for film production and project development. It grants non-reimbursable financial support for the assurance of cinematographic culture and education programs, for the distribution and capitalisation of Romanian films within and outside Romania, and for the art cinematography.
