State Puppet Theatre Kazakhstan

The State Puppet Theater was founded in Almaty in 1935 and it was one of the first theatres in Kazakhstan. In its repertoire there are 40 plays for marionnette or juggling puppets. The repertoire is mostly based on fairy tales and legends of folk, Oriental and world literature. From 2011 to 2015, State Puppet Theater provided its platform for the World Puppet Carnival. As part of the Carnival guest programme, there were puppet theatres from 15 visiting countries. Members of the jury was formed with the professionals of Union Internationale de la Marionnette (UNIMA).
