Stuttgart Festival Of Animated Film

Together with the fmx -Conference on Animation, Effects, Games and Interactive Media, the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film is developing into the biggest and most important meeting in the world of animated film. Founded in 1982, the Stuttgart Festival of Animated Film has always promoted artistic animated films, young talented artists and the entire animated film sector.

The festival competition is divided into the following categories:

  • International Competition - The International Competition is the heart of the Festival. Artistically outstanding short animated films, released over the last 12 months can be seen here.

  • Young Animation - shows the best films produced by talented young filmmakers and students from international film and art schools.

  • Tricks for Kids - presents the newest children's animated films.

  • AniMovie - The feature film competition AniMovie screens a selection of internationally outstanding feature-length animated films.

  • Animated Com Award - The competition for applied animation. Entries can include animated film in the fields of advertisement, spatial communication and technology.

  • German Voice Actor Award - Award for the best German voice actor in an animated feature film.


In addition to the competitions with the newest films from all over the world, the supporting programme also includes exciting highlights such as school and studio presentations, showcases presenting famous animated artists, the ever popular Best-of-Animation-series and screenplay workshops with top-class personalities and parties and receptions.
